Idiocracy Opens With a Limited Release

After waiting for two years for Mike McCafferty's movie to be released, it is finally here.  Having gone through several title changes, including 3001, they have settled upon the title Idiocracy.   Haven't heard about it?  Well, that's because there has been virtually no marketing, no advertising, no official website, and it has been given only a limited release.

Standoff:
A Craig Silverstein Series

For I-Man fans this should come as no surprise.  We've all watched the I-Man episodes (The Other Invisible Man, Brothers Keeper, Ralph, Flowers for Hobbes, Diseased, etc.) that Craig Silverstein wrote and we counted them as among our very favorites of the show.  The Invisible Man was Craig's first writing job and through it we discovered a young writer whose incredible talent made the show even better.  Now, just four years later, Standoff, a series that Craig created, has been picked up by FOX to air this fall.

"'I wanted to write about the balance of power in a power couple and sort of looked at the best vehicle for that,' said creator Craig Silverstein, who also said he would include some of the 'quirkier' hostage situations." - The Columbus Dispatch

"Standoff"

Synopsis:  MATT FLANNERY (Ron Livingston, “Sex and the City,” “House”) and EMILY LEHMAN (Rosemarie DeWitt, “Cinderella Man”) are the top-ranked negotiators in the FBI’s Crisis Negotiation Unit (CNU). They’re trained to talk their way through volatile situations. They’re experts at knowing what makes other people tick. They’re also sleeping together … a secret that they agreed to keep to themselves, until Matt reveals it to the entire world during a tense hostage standoff.

Standoff, originally titled Primary, premieres Tuesday, September 5, 9 p.m./8 p.m. Central, on FOX.  Be sure to check your local listings for the correct time and channel.

Special Announcement:
Film in the Works!

For those of you fortunate enough to attend I-ManiCon this year, you heard Mike McCafferty's announcement about a film featuring our entire I-Man cast that is just starting to get off the ground.  It all started over a year ago when Mike suggested to me that we do an I-Man fan film.  After looking into the various aspects of what such a project would require and receiving positive interest from various industry sources, I suggested that we go for what we really want...a full-length I-Man feature film.

It's been a lengthy process to get to where we are now and I wish I could say that we were able to get the feature film rights to "The Invisible Man," but, unfortunately and not surprisingly, we were turned down by the rights holder.  Not ones to be easily stopped, the cast has expressed the desire to work together again, so we decided to pull everyone together and make our own film.  No, it won't be I-Man, but it will be our very talented cast together again on the screen.  If you're a fan of not only the show but also the cast, I hope this is a prospect that excites you as much as it excites me.

Does this mean the end for I-Man?  I hope not.  Hopefully, this film will be a critical and financial success and will cause the powers that be to take another look at I-Man; and I'll certainly do everything I can to help facilitate that outcome.

So what's next?  It's with mixed feelings that my new role compels me to close down The Invisible Man Online.  I love doing this site and I never did get to finish it, but time will not allow me to run both a fan website and produce a film.  The plan is to open my production company site within the next month or two and close The Invisible Man Online by the end of the year.  The new site will contain a blog and I'll still try to keep everyone up to date on cast and crew projects that I hear about.  In addition, I'll post news on how the film is progressing, as well as talk about a subject that I find fascinating:  film production.

If you're already on my mailing list, you won't have to do anything.  I'll automatically transfer you over with the same settings you have now.  And just like now, you'll be able to freely change how you receive emails, individually or digest.  Or you may prefer to just visit the site on the web and read the posts there.  It's your choice.  I believe in your right to privacy and my policy to never share, rent or sell your email address to anyone will remain in effect on the new site.

Producing a film is a massive task and there may be hurdles that we will have to jump over and bumps in the road that we will have to navigate around, but with perseverance and determination, I look forward to the day that we will see our cast together again, hopefully, sooner rather than later.

A lot more exciting news will be coming your way in the future, so I hope you'll be here to share it with us.  I know the cast appreciates your support.

Sincerely,

Amanda Rogers
